1. Testing Accuracy & Limitations

We use state-of-the-art Computerized XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) technology for non-destructive gold and silver testing. However, customers must note:

• XRF technology tests the surface of the metal. If an item is heavily plated, hollow, or filled with other metals (like wax, copper, or lead inside), the surface test may not reflect the absolute core purity.
• For 100% absolute core purity, a traditional melting or Fire Assay method is required, which is a destructive process and will only be performed with the explicit consent of the customer.

2. BIS Portal & HUID Generation

Varanasi Hallmark Center is an authorized Assaying & Hallmarking Centre (Recognition No: R-2219027) operating under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

• The generation of the 6-digit HUID code is dependent on the availability and uptime of the central BIS portal/servers.
• We are not responsible for delays in hallmarking caused by technical glitches, server maintenance, or policy changes initiated by the Government of India or BIS.

3. Valuations & Financial Advice

Varanasi Hallmark Center provides testing and certification of metal purity. We do not buy, sell, or trade gold and silver.

• Any purity report provided by us is a scientific analysis of the metal submitted.
• We do not provide financial, investment, or market valuation advice. The monetary value of your jewellery depends on current market rates and the policies of the jeweller or buyer you choose to deal with.

4. Condition of Jewellery (Stones/Enamel)

While XRF testing and laser hallmarking are completely non-destructive processes, some procedures may require minor scraping or handling of the jewellery. We do not take responsibility for any pre-existing loose stones, weak joints, or internal cracks that may be affected during standard handling procedures.
